On January 31, 2026, Lake Sammamish Run Club hosted an outstanding multi‑hour workshop with physical therapist and fellow runner Matthew Wines, DPT, CSCS.
The session delivered exactly what our community hoped for: clear, practical insight into how runners can stay healthy, move efficiently, and keep running for life.
Matthew opened with a 30-ish minute presentation covering the fundamentals of running biomechanics, the most common injury patterns he sees in runners, and how form choices can either reduce or amplify stress on the body. His explanations were accessible, evidence‑informed, and immediately relevant for runners of all experience levels. Participants consistently described this portion as eye‑opening and highly valuable.
After the presentation, each attendee received a brief individualized running analysis—Matthew and his helpers took as much time as needed with each runner—where Matthew offered targeted observations and simple, actionable adjustments. Even in this short format, runners walked away with specific cues and a clearer understanding of their own movement patterns. An optional guided workout followed for those who wanted to put ideas into practice. After, each participant received emailed notes and a summary of the individual findings.
Feedback from the group was overwhelmingly positive. Members appreciated Matthew’s expertise, clarity, and supportive coaching style, together with his volunteers/helpers, and many expressed interest in future sessions! If we can do this again, we'll gather a new evaluation group for those who couldn't arrive this time.
For LSRC, it was a meaningful afternoon of learning, community, and practical takeaways that will help our runners stay strong and injury‑resilient for years to come. As always, please reach out to the LSRC Board for more information and feedback. Thanks for continuing to make this community great!
