Emerald City Open 6k/8k - XC

  • October 11, 2025
  • 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Lower Woodland Park, Seattle, WA

Teams have been registered! If you are on the registration list, you are all set for Saturday (email to follow shortly)!

This meet is hosted by Club Northwest. A minimum of five members on each team (Women's Open, Men's Open) are required to "score", but we will still be able to participate and have tons of fun even if we don't have enough people to fill out a team! Jerseys are required, but USATF membership is not. LSRC will register the teams and cover the registration fees for ALL members (Free or Full)!

Men and women will race separately during this event (Open and Masters are combined - there is no Masters-specific scoring).

Please REGISTER here by Tuesday, October 7, to serve as an RSVP if you would like to participate so we can register you for the race. We will also need to know your DOB in order to add you. If you hadn't already provided it on a previous occasion, please send it to Coach Zach (zach@lakesammamishrunclub.org).

Location: Lower Woodland Park. Enter from 50th St to park in the parking lot. The course starts at the very top of the hill directly to the west.

Time: Arrive between 9:30 and 10am to provide ample time for checking in and warming up. There is no known course time limit other than the Men's race starting 45 minutes after the Women's race, but the large majority of runners will not be close to that limit.

What to expect: There will be a lot of fast competition in all age categories from 18-70+. The course (something similar to this) consists of a 2k loop repeated to equate the total distance of the race. It's quite hilly and much of it is gravel or hard packed dirt, so shoes with spikes are not necessary. Most road shoes with a little bit of tread will do just fine and are often preferred.

Schedule:

9:30am: Check-in begins

10:30am: Women's Open & Masters 6k

11:15am: Men's Open & Masters 8k

There is also another XC race that is casual happening in the afternoon on this very day, in Arlington. It's possible to participate in one or both events due to ample time between events, but the Emerald City Open is what we will be focusing our energy on this year.

See our XC season kickoff mail for general information about cross country.
