  • 30 Sep 2023
  • 1:30 PM
  • Cedarcrest Golf Course, Marysville.

Registration

Registration is closed

This is a casual unscored meet for newcomers, the experienced, and anyone in between! We are not required to field a full team, have uniforms, or USATF membership. However, please REGISTER here on this page to serve as an RSVP if you are interested in participating.

Time: It is recommended to arrive by 1:30pm to allow time for parking in the lot north of the golf course, getting into the golf course (north entrance), registering/picking up your bib (west side of golf course near finish arches), and warming up/restrooms, etc. LSRC will set up at an area on the hillside with a view of the finish line (NW corner of the golf course). The start line is on the top of the hill in the middle of the course. The open heat which we will be participating in starts at 2:45.

Location: Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville

Cost: It's $7 to enter the golf course (CASH ONLY). Once inside, go to the timing booth near the finish line (west side of the field where the arches are) and sign up for the open race. There is no additional fee to "register" for the race.

What to bring: $7 cash per person entering the field, XC shoes with 1/4" spikes, and/or shoes that have good traction on grass.

What to expect: Twilight is a large XC event where many high schools from all across Western Washington compete. The first heat at 2:45pm is an open race for family members, coaches, fans, as well as other high school students who may not be racing in seeded heats later in the afternoon. Expect a mass start with about 200 people spanning across a wide start line on the turf. Everyone will try to sprint hard at the beginning and runners will funnel into a narrower pack after the first 200 meters. The bulk of the runners will be in the 20-30 minute range for the 5k, so if you are faster than that, it will be wise try and get a good position at the beginning. Once you get going, there will be soft rollers for an overall downhill the first mile. At mile 1.5, there is a short uphill and downhill, followed by a long gradual climb. Mile 3 has a fast downhill and a flat finish.
